About our Pens
Custom pens use a pre-made nib (or nib unit) and everything else is handcrafted. Creating our bespoke pens involves -mainly- the use of a metal and a wood lathe to shape the parts of the writing instruments: Grip section, Body, and Cap. To make these parts we choose materials such as wood, ebonite, metals and acrylics.
 
About this piece:
This pen is inspired by the fascination of Portoro marble.
Portoro is a high-quality black marble. It presents a wonderful chromatic combination: an endless number of golden and white undulations spread through its intense black background.
Glamour and sophistication are the defining concepts of this natural stone, considered the most expensive and exclusive black marble in the world. 
The geological composition of Portoro is calcareous with a microcrystalline structure.
Marine substances are responsible for the dark colour and also the golden veins, which are a product of the organic marine materials oxidising. 
The outcrops of Portoro, which are used for extraction, are present exclusively in the Ligurian province of La Spezia (Italy) extending from the Tinetto, Palmaria and Tino islands towards Portovenere. The landscape and environment of these beautiful places are delicate, therefore the cultivation of the quarries is carried out with particular attention.
