Custom Pens - KLEAMX120FP - "Ambiorix"
About our Pens
Custom pens use a pre-made nib (or nib unit) and everything else is handcrafted. Creating our bespoke pens involves -mainly- the use of a metal and a wood lathe to shape the parts of the writing instruments: Grip section, Body, and Cap. To make these parts we choose materials such as wood, ebonite, metals and acrylics.
About this piece:
This pen was inspired by "Ambiorix".
Ambiorix (Gaulish "king of the surroundings", or "king-protector") was, together with Cativolcus, prince of the Eburones, leader of a Belgic tribe of north-eastern Gaul (Gallia Belgica), where modern Belgium is located.
In the nineteenth century Ambiorix became a Belgian national hero because of his resistance against Julius Caesar (54BC) .
Caesar wrote about Ambiorix in his commentary about his battles against the Gauls, Commentarii de Bello Gallico.
In this text he also wrote the famous line: "Of these (three regions) the Belgae are the bravest." ("... Horum omnium fortissimi sunt Belgae ...").
Ambiorix is honoured in Belgium's oldest city (Tongeren) with an imposing bronze statue.
